Despite the fact that Peak n Peak is a participators ski resort, the manager, Katelyn as well as all the staff know nothing about the program. We had to enroll in this program 1 month prior to our trip and pay a $31 fee. We are from Florida and enrolled our 4th grader in The NY program for 3rd and 4th graders you learn how to ski. We went to Peak n Peak for our 10 and 13 year old to learn how to ski. The level of communication was awful (they don't answer calls, social media messages or emails quickly and when they do, it is a short one sentence response). There made no efforts to communicate procedures, wait time or the preferred customers. The 2 hours we spent in line was spent chatting with 10 other unhappy customers about how poorly things were done. We contemplated waiting another cold 25 minutes, until we saw a group go to the man in the cowboy hat selling tickets out of the back of the ticket booth to a group (without masks and having a beer). She told us they don't do online reservations due to the high volume they have. We were also told it shuts down at 9 pm regardless and that weekends were much worse. She offered to advocate for us to get tickets, but was not successful. She also shared that the back of the line was told they may not even get on, and that she hoped they would sell tickets to us by 7:15. She explained that it was true the 60-80 people currently in the "special line" got preference, and that they sell 26 tickets every 15 minutes. These were hotel guests, who had preference (again not on the website).Īt 6:45 we were near the ticket both and a worker slowed to answer a question from the group of us nearest the booth. As the line inched forward I noticed a man in a cowboy hat collecting people and moving them to a separate line. We got in line at 5 pm, and stood without social distancing, despite the constant PA announcements to socially distance, and without any guidance from management. I should have seen it coming when the website didn't allow for reservations, and the fact that my call went to voicemail. We drove 90 minutes to get to Peek n Peak for a Thursday evening of lunar tubing only to stand in line for 2 hours, cold and disappointed. I wish the Peek success, not sure I ll be back With Lake findley, Chautauqua, Etc near by there is no lack of customers able to pay your menu prices. The beer and pizza crowd can go to the pub, informal dining to the outer dining room, etc. I suggest having a semi formal area roped off and advertise it and you ll attract a different crowd of customers. People are looking for a formal like setting like Russell's in buffalo, Russell's is very very busy. I noticed this summer and currently the dining is not busy, though food was good. There was a time when the fireplace area had unwritten or written dress code with white tablecloths. Yet the menu is fine dining? $52 for ribeye etc. In the dining room near the fireplace, I was surrounded by hoodies, jeans, loud children, etc. We dressed semi formal not formal since we know the atmosphere is come as you wish. Celebrated our anniversary this weekend there. Formal dining is gone in such a beautiful imported DR.
